Massage Chairs an Alternative Method in Receiving a Massage

If you are on the go and don’t have time to lay down for a nice soothing massage, but are in need of relaxation and stress relief, another option is the Massage Chair. The massage is given over the top of your clothing, you sit up, and in 10 minutes or so you are finished and ready to go.

David Palmer in the 1980’s introduced a sitting posture massage. Since then, this new innovation in massage therapy has more fully developed and grown popular. As with the traditional massage, tables have been designed and built to create the most relaxing position in order to provide best results. Chair massages have done the same thing and developed their own unique positions to maximize comfort and produce the similar results of stress relief, muscle balance, and relaxation. There are two specific chairs used: desktoppers and portable massage chairs.

The desktopper is portable, light weight, and fits on the top of a desk (convenient for offices which do not have a lot of space, and you use the chair in your office or room) or table. They come with similar look of the head and upper portion of a massage table.

Portable chairs do not look like a chair, but are specifically designed for chair massages. Again benefits are light weight, can fit in smaller places than a massage table, and are specific for regions of head, neck, shoulders and back. Typically, you will not see full body massages done in the chair. They take less time and provide similar results.

Another popular chair is the electronic lumbar support chair. These often recline and give the needed lumbar support while mechanically massaging. There are electronic and digital chairs that you can select the various types, strength, and regions of the massage. These chairs can be put in a professional office, at home, or in a student’s dorm room. Some of these recliners come with a stool to massage your calves.
